Tiny Tower is an iPhone game in which boys compete to see who has the biggest tower, using Game Center. Girls can play too!
All things considered, the game is Progress Quest.
Much of the game plays in the background, while you're doing other things with your life. Money to expand your tower is earned over time based on light management choices that only take a few seconds in the game. Paying more attention to the game rewards you with VIP's and "dollars" that speed up your progress.
I've been using Tiny Tower as a productivity tool!
I let it run in the background, then try to see how much work I can get done in the real world before it pings me, needing my attention in-game.
...it's easy to forget how much you can honestly get done in let's say, the fifteen minutes before dinner, or other easily wasted blocks of time during the day!

Frustrating Air Hockey 1.1
Frustrating Air Hockey just got an update!
Download Frustrating Air Hockey
I added a lot of new stuff, including Game Center Achievements and Leaderboards, a difficulty slider, awesome Retina graphics, doubled the frame rate...
You'll notice my leaderboards are:
I specifically wanted to reward players for trying to improve their high scores, and for playing my game often. Win count, if I ranked that, would have rewarded players who decrease difficulty rating, in order to win against easier AI!
Also, Booga Bear fans might (rightly) assume there are two secret achievements:
You can see my high scores (MrKenny) on Game Center.
You can also add me on there if you like (hi@kennysapps.com)
Check out the Booga Bear achievement pic :P
Enjoy the new Frustrating Air Hockey, it's free!

You'll notice my leaderboards are:
- Pushers: Best difficulty rating beaten with Pushers
- Paddles: Best difficulty rating beaten with Paddles
- Most Frustrated: Most losses

Personal Soundtracks
I like to listen to music...
Sometimes I do it while playing games or reading - then I subconsciously associate certain songs with those games or books!
I'm sure my song associations mean nothing to anyone except for me.
The songs (probably) don't even fit the media I associate them with... or do they?
f(x) + Gears of War
"Danger" right? Makes all kinds of sense!
Skrillex + Minecraft
Anytime I hear the filthy beats at 2:25 in "My Name Is Skrillex", I think waterfalls, cobblestone and lava! But maybe this fits - the sound is digital, kind of retro...
Scary Kids Scaring Kids + The Watchmen
I was going through an emo thing, listening to Scary Kids Scaring Kids when I read The Watchmen. I now associate, specifically the song "Holding On" to The Watchmen. But maybe the song actually fits the dark, moody atmosphere of that graphic novel? Or maybe not.
Back in the day...
My brother associated an unrelated soundtrack to a game:
Limp Bizkit + Pokemon
Makes perfect sense!
How about you?
What unrelated music do you associate with certain games or books?

Too Many Games!
Soo there's the Steam Summer Sale...
A great opportunity to stockpile games you don't have time to play, at great prices.
The problem is, I have sooo many games already that I HAVEN'T EVEN PLAYED!
About a year ago, a girl visited me and saw all the games I had. Her perception of me went from really awesome and good looking guy to: lazy piece o' crap.
She saw my Master Chief helmet for example...
I completely understand a person coming to the conclusions:
I pre-ordered, and then didn't play Halo 2 for almost a year. Halo 2 happened to come out the year I went to college, I didn't have time to play, didn't even bring my Xbox to college with me.
I bought Halo 3 just after launch, and again didn't play. I had the sense not to pre-order this time, but it was just soo hyped. I HAD to buy the new Halo game. They made freaking Halo Mountain Dew Gamer Fuel! I bought Halo 3, tried it out briefly, but then immediately (right at launch) gave it to a friend to borrow indefinitely.
A few months later, I saw the game being sold WITH the cool helmet (prev $120) for only $50 at Wal-Mart? Less than the retail cost of the game alone. So I bought it for kicks, early Christmas present for myself, and my friend bought my other copy from me. He had it so long, we agreed he effectively owned it at this point. When did I finally get around to beating Halo 3? Only last year! So THREE YEARS after purchase.
I understand the misunderstanding.
Who in their right mind has a Master Chief helmet, but doesn't care for Halo?
And yet get this:
This girl recognized my Guybrush Threepwood voodoo doll!
You wouldn't, unless you're a gamer yourself...
The girl's visit culminated in a funny event:
She saw Mario Kart Wii, and after criticizing me for owning too many games, challenged me to play? I had to explain I had NEVER PLAYED it!
Of course I was familiar with Mario Kart... I'd be OK with her winning too, that might be "cute" right? But I don't really care for competitive games, I like co-op a hell of a lot more, and that's very apparent in my design work. But imagine the look on her face? How could I have not played a game... that I own and she's looking at right there? Does not compute. Mario Kart of all things! At the time, I had seriously never played the Wii version, even though I had owned it for over a year.
Console games aside...
Here are all the games I own on Steam alone, but have never touched:
In conclusion, I should stop buying so many games...
But I guess on the plus side ladies, you can't say I'm obsessed with playing games...
Just buying them lol. Is that worse?
